Wax Removal

The amount of wax our ears produce varies from person to person and usually comes out on its own. However, this is not always the case, and if you are suffering from an earwax blockage, it’s time to call in an expert. If you are looking for ear wax removal specialists in Altrincham or the surrounding area, our fully qualified and accredited audiologists can help make you more comfortable.

We are able to offer earwax removal via microsuction at £60 for both ears. If you’d like more information or wish to make an appointment, call us or come into the clinic. We’re always happy to advise.

Earwax FAQ

What is earwax?

Earwax is produced by the glands in the ear canal. While it can be painful and problematic in large amounts, it actually plays a vital role in protecting your ears from bacteria, dust, water and other irritants. It’s completely natural and helps your ears self-clean. Most of the time, you won’t even be aware it’s there.

Why does earwax cause problems

Earwax only becomes a problem when a significant build-up causes a blockage. Where this happens, it can cause pain, itchiness and hearing loss and may need removing. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, it’s important to call our hearing team. We can assess the problem and provide advice and recommendations for the most appropriate treatment.

What are the symptoms of too much earwax?
Ear pain
Reduced or complete loss of hearing
Dizziness
Itchiness of the ears or ear canal
Plugged or full sensation
Ringing in the ear, similar to tinnitus

Microsuction

What is microsuction

At Altrincham Hearing Centre, we use Microsuction to remove ear wax. Microsuction is a safe and pain-free way of removing ear wax that is non-invasive and very effective.

It takes very little time to complete but can make a real difference right away if you do have a buildup of wax and are suffering from discomfort or ear wax. During the microsuction process, your Altrincham Hearing Centre audiologist will use a microscopic loupes to get a detailed view of your ear canal and the ear wax build-up. Once the target areas are identified, a suction pump is used to remove the wax in a safe and comfortable way.

For our clients that suffer from hard or impacted wax, rest assured that microsuction is one of the most comfortable ways to remove it. The process involves no contact with the ear canal. It is the method preferred by our customers and healthcare professionals alike for its guaranteed, effective results.
